About

Full Circle
Today my skills and experience in woven textiles, yarns and fibres, colour trends, trade shows, seminars and publications take me all over the world, but my story starts in the place I was brought up in the heart of the Brecon Beacons, south Wales.

It was here that my visual and tactile senses were honed, fascinated by my surrounding landscape. Later, when I was putting together my degree show at the Royal College of Art, my connection with my roots was central: I used wool from our own farm sheep, spun into yarn and woven to produce the finished fabric – every fibre of my being, there in the end product.

And later still, when I set out into the world of business, I had my father roundup some of our sheep (the best-looking ones, of course) and pitch them with my initials BG. It was the first steps towards building the Beryl Gibson brand for the future. The idea was also the basis of my first ever business card and helped to secure one of my first commissions with International Wool Secretariat (IWS) now Woolmark, with whom I currently work freelance.

Today, with over twenty-five years’ experience in the world of textiles, it is satisfying to know that I am acknowledged and respected world-wide as an inspirational and successfully established Textile Consultant and expert in my field.

I am as motivated today as at the outset of my career and have the curiosity to combine traditional and modern approaches, bringing a new take on the old to the textile industry. My motivation is to inspire and empower others through the passion, experience and skills I possess, in an understanding, approachable and friendly way.

Based in my permanent design studio in London, I feel privileged to work with mills, spinners, retailers, trade associations and government departments in the UK; and globally in Europe, South America, USA, Turkey, India, China and South Africa.

I work with a prestigious portfolio of clients – luxury brands, large multinationals, medium-sized manufacturers and smaller niche companies – covering women’s and menswear fabric collections, upholstery and curtaining for interiors, home and fashion accessories and yarn ranges, with a clear understanding of innovative commercial product development processes that are therefore fit for purpose.
